བོད་ཀྱི་ཆོས་རིག་ཐོག་མཁྱེན་བརྒྱ་ཆེ་བའི་མཁས་དབང་འཇིན་སི་མིཐ་མཆོག་ཚེ་འདི་ནས་ཕྱི་མའི་སྔ་ལམ་དུ་གྱུར་པ་འདི་ནི་འགྲོ་བ་སྤྱི་དང་ལྷག་པར་བོད་བརྒྱུད་ནང་བསྟན་དོན་གཉེར་ཅན་ཐམས་ཅད་ལ་གྱོན་གུན་ཆེན་པོ་ཞིག་ཡིན་པ་ནི་བརྗོད་མི་དགོས།
ཁོང་གིས་སྐུ་ཚེ་ཧྲིལ་པོ་བོད་ཀྱི་ཆོས་དང་རིག་གཞུང་ཡང་སྒོས་བོད་ཀྱི་གསུང་རབ་གཅེས་གསོག་དང་ཆབས་གཅིག་ཁྱབ་སྤེལ་གནང་བའི་སྒོ་ནས་གཟེངས་སུ་ཐོན་པའི་མཛད་རྗེས་བཞག་ཡོད། ཁོང་གི་མཛད་རྗེས་ལ་བརྟེན་དེང་གོ་ལ་འདིའི་ནང་བོད་ཀྱི་གསུང་རབ་སློབ་གཉེར་བྱ་བདེ་བར་བཟོས་ཡོད། དེ་ཙམ་དུ་མ་ཟད་ཁོང་གིས་ཕྱི་ལོ་ ༡༩༩༩ ལོ་ནས་བོད་ཀྱི་ནང་བསྟན་དཔེ་ཚོགས་ལྟེ་གནས་དབུ་བཙུགས་གིས་བོད་ཀྱི་གསུང་རབ་སྔར་ལྷག་མི་ཉམས་རྒྱུན་འཛིན་གྱི་མཛད་རྗེས་རླབས་ཆེན་འཇོག་གནང་མཛད་ཡོད། དེས་ན། ཁོང་གི་མཛད་རྗེས་ནི་སྔོན་གྱི་སྐྱེས་བུ་དམ་པའི་མཛད་རྗེས་དང་གཅིག་མཚུངས་ངོས་འཛིན་ཞུ་འོས་པས་དམ་པ་འདིའི་མཛད་རྗེས་དུས་རྟག་ཏུ་དྲན་པར་བྱའོ།།
E Gene Smith was a great scholar and compendium of wisdom. His demise is a great loss to the world of Tibetan studies. He has dedicated his whole life span for the preservation and dissemination of Tibetan culture and specially Tibetan literary heritage. He has many good qualities, one of them is that he was a great appreciator of any one doing research or study on Tibetan studies which is unique. His second contribution is the digitization of corpus of Tibetan literature and making them available to all, thus highly benefited to scholar and student of Tibetan studies. His contribution should be equally remembered as our past bstan ‘dzin gyi skyes chen dam pa (a great master holder of Buddha’s teaching)and will be always remembered.
